Unlicensed International Medical Graduates wait for years before practicing medicine in the U.S and while they have huge untapped potential, they are not given the chance to be involved in patient care, meanwhile the healthcare need in the community is rapidly expanding. IMGs for Texas is about creating supervised clinical environments that enable the IMGs to use their skills help patients in the community.
IMGs for Texas mission is to provide clinical assistance/ancillary patient care opportunities to IMGs in community-based/underserved healthcare settings to empower the IMGs and to heal the community.
We envision a United States where unlicensed IMGs are seamlessly integrated in the community health care system, and are recognized for the value they add to it. For more experienced IMGs and a healthier America.
Before Hurricane Harvey, our CEO Ghaith Ibrahim had plans to form a new association to enable International Medical Graduates in their new communities across the United States especially in Houston, Texas. When Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, AUG 2017 and left thousands of people displaced and devastated, Ghaith Ibrahim dropped everything and launched IMGs for Texas within two days with the mission of disaster relief.
